Why we use it
- To provide the service you signed up for — your account, resources and Planner (necessary for our contract with you).
- To take payments and manage subscriptions (contract, and legal obligations such as keeping financial records).
- To keep the service secure and fair, including usage limits and preventing misuse (our legitimate interests).
- To send the resource you requested, and marketing emails only if you opted in (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run MFL Made Simple. They process information on our behalf:
- Lovable — website hosting, database, sign-in and file storage (Lovable Cloud).
- AI model providers (Google Gemini and OpenAI models, accessed through Lovable's AI service) — to generate resources from the content you provide.
- Google — if you choose Google sign-in; also serves our website fonts.
- Stripe — payments, subscriptions, invoices and the billing portal.
- Brevo — email list for teachers who request free resources.
- Openverse and Pexels — image search for slides. Only search words are sent, not your personal details.
We don't sell your information.
International processing
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and teaching content while your account is active. Some things you can delete yourself, such as lessons, classes and uploaded files. You can permanently delete your account in Account settings, or contact us for help. Account deletion cancels active subscriptions and removes your sign-in account, teaching content and private uploaded files. Payment and invoice records may be kept for longer where the law requires. Separately requested marketing emails can be stopped using their unsubscribe link.
Security
Your content is private to your account by default, and uploaded files are stored privately. We use reasonable technical measures to protect information, but no online service can be completely secure.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, object to or restrict some uses, and withdraw marketing consent at any time. Contact abbie@whynotlanguages.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies and similar technologies
We only use technologies that are strictly necessary for the site to work. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
- Sign-in storage: your browser stores a sign-in session so you stay logged in.
- Payments: when you open checkout, Stripe may set cookies needed for secure payment and fraud prevention.
Because these are strictly necessary, we don't show a cookie consent banner. If we add anything non-essential in future, we'll ask first.
Changes
We may update this notice. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know. See also our Terms of Service.
